Hello,

That error on the OfficeJet Pro 8720 can mean a simple seating issue, a dirty electrical contact, or a failed printhead assembly. Before I walk you through the corrective steps, I need a bit more detail so I can confirm whether this is recoverable or whether the unit needs to go to depot repair.

Please tell me:

  1. Did this start right after you replaced cartridges, or did it happen suddenly during normal printing?

  2. Are you using genuine HP ink, or third-party/refilled?

  3. When you lift the printer lid and open the access door, does the carriage move to the center for maintenance, or is it stuck?

  4. Have you seen any ink leakage, or was the printer idle for a long period before this happened?
