HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer

Absolutely ridiculous. I purchased this printer a little over 2 years ago and recently started receiving “Printer Failure” and “Paper Jam” error messages. The specific error code is 0x6100004a. After countless hours troubleshooting, I contacted HP support, where Ronnie had me troubleshoot more, all with the same result. At the end of this, she tells me “the next thing to do is purchase a new printer”. Since my 1 year warranty is expired, there was no other option. I am then told this is an HP hardware issue (diagnosed as a defective printer) and there is no part to replace or option to have my printer fixed. Due to the ink cartridge carrier being apart of the printer and not being a separate piece, there is nothing to do except replace the printer. However, since my warranty is expired, the only option is for me to purchase a brand new printer. They also suggested to extend my warranty so that if this happens in the future, my printer can be replaced without hassle. I will absolutely not be purchasing another HP if their products are defective after 2 years of normal use and somehow it is my problem and I now need to spend hundreds of dollars on a new item that will likely do the same thing. No thank you.
