Hi.

Today I experienced a problem when I tried to make a copy using the printer: it is filled with vertical lines and some of what I was trying to copy is partly visible on the edge of the page. Next, I tried to scan the document, but the same thing happened.

I searched the help here, and went through all the steps that are suggested EXCEPT the last one:

https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02772213.

Everything went well until I tried to use the ALIGNMENT feature. I keep getting the error message saying the "Alignment Page Not Recognized". I'm then asked to try to scan it again (SAME ERROR MESSAGE), and then to PRINT the page again and try it all over. No success.

I'm now at the last suggestion for the problem which is to have it serviced; HOWEVER, I noticed someone with a different printer who had the same problem, and he was directed to "Update the printer's firmware":

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Errors-or-Lights-Stuck-Print-Jobs/Can-not-scan-the-alignment-...

Is this something for me to try specific to my printer that might work?

Thanks in advance for a workable solution.

Valerie

Hey Betty!

Thanks for the potential solution.

Sorry it's taken a while for me to reply but I've had family visiting all week after not seeing them so long due to COVID.

What a joy it is to be together again! The last family leaves today, so I'll be doing what you have suggested tomorrow.

I sure do hope it works!

Best regards, Valerie

Hi Betty,

I hope you and your loved ones are well!

I tried the Firmware Update two different ways:

1) I used the Control Panel on my printer that's connected to the Internet and made sure the wireless feature was active.

It says my firmware is up to date.

2) I went to the HP website and manually downloaded the firmware and attempted to install it.

I received a message saying that the Firmware Updater is not available for my device. So I guess that means it's up to date again.

Regarding your second suggestion, I already tried all those steps, and when they were not successful, I posted a message here for help thinking it might be a firmware issue,

Any other suggestions?

Thank you, Valerie

Do you've any other set of cartridges?

Hi Betty,

I hope your day is going well.

I'm a subscriber to the HP Instant Ink service, and had a new Color Cartridge available, so I switched out the old color one and put in the new one. The printer still doesn't recognize the alignment page when I try to scan it, and the copies still have that terrible vertical streaks on the page.

I do not have a Black cartridge replacement yet via the HP Instant Ink program. It's getting low, so one will probably be sent soonish.

Thanks, Valerie

All going well here, thank you 🙂

Hope you're having a lovely week yourself. Yes, it will be sent. Please try that and let us know the issue gets resolved.
