Hi,
I have been having difficulty printing from my laptop for years. I can scan via the HP Smart App, I can print status reports and the like from the HP Smart App. However, I cannot print, even when I choose to print via the HP Smart App. I always get an error.
In the past, the error would by that the printer wasn't available or was asleep. Now, it just says error. All the while, the HP Smart App says the printer is ready. I've used the diagnostic tools and nothing fixes it.
I have an HP Envy x360 laptop with Windows 11 operating system.

Hi @NubianJay ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 2652 All-in-One Printer your Printer Can Scan but will not Print from the Computer. there may be an issue with the printer's connection or the print settings on your laptop. Since you've already used the diagnostic tools, here are a few additional steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Check Printer Connection:
- Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your laptop. If using a wired connection, verify the USB cable is properly connected.
- Check if the printer’s IP address has changed. You can find the IP address by printing a network configuration page from the printer’s menu.
Restart Printer and Laptop:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it for about 10 seconds before turning it back on. Similarly, restart your laptop to clear any temporary issues.
Set Printer as Default:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Find your HP DeskJet 2652, click on it, and select Set as default.
Remove and Re-add Printer:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Remove the HP DeskJet 2652 printer and then click Add a printer or scanner to add it back.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Go to Device Manager and locate the printer under Printers. Right-click on it and select Update driver.
- If the driver update doesn’t help, try uninstalling the printer completely and reinstalling the latest drivers from the HP website.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Ensure your Windows 11 system is fully updated, as sometimes updates fix issues related to printing.
Clear the Print Queue:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click Open Queue.
- Clear any stuck print jobs and try printing again.
Let me know if any of these steps resolve the issue!
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
