I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 8610.. I perfomed a semi-hard reset. After setup, I received an error msg re a damaged printer cartridge... Upon opening the printer bay door, I found that the printer carriage no longer moves to the left so that I can replace the printer catridege that is supposed to be damaged. It doesn't move at all any longer and that same error mesage appears each and every time I; turn on the printer whether after another failed attetp at reset, power cycling, etc.., At this point, it looks as thought he printer will no longer function properly after the semi-hard resest.. I cannot replace the cartridge because the printer carriage no lnger moves left when the door is open, All this took place after preforning a semi-hard reset, which was aafter tryign to clean the printer heads to a level three setting... Been an issue ever since.

Welcome to the HP support community.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 is experiencing a significant issue with the printhead carriage. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the internal mechanisms.
2. Check for Obstructions
- With the printer powered off, carefully inspect the printer carriage area for any paper scraps, foreign objects, or anything that might be blocking the carriage from moving.
- Look closely at the rails on which the carriage moves to ensure they are clear.
3. Manually Move the Carriage
- Gently try to move the carriage by hand (only do this if the printer is turned off). It should slide left and right without much resistance.
- If it feels stuck, check for anything that might be jammed.
4. Check the Carriage Belt
- If you're comfortable, you can remove the printer covers to inspect the carriage belt for any breaks or misalignments. This can sometimes prevent the carriage from moving.
5. Reset the Printer Again
- Perform another semi-hard reset:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in, turn it on, and hold the # and 6 buttons simultaneously on the printer's control panel until you see a message indicating a reset.
6. Inspect the Cartridges
- Even if the carriage is not moving, check the cartridges for any visible damage. If they are physically intact, ensure they are properly seated in the carriage
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
