HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

How to find the hard reset instructions for the printer and clear the error message.  The basic power cycle and holding down the power button does not work.  A HP Tech helped with the hard reset steps the last time this happened.

Hi @TCole21,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To perform a hard reset on your HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer and attempt to clear the E6 error, follow these steps.

Turn off the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer, and unplug the power cord from both the printer and the power source.

Disconnect All Cables:

  • If there are any USB or Ethernet cables connected, disconnect them as well.

Wait 60 Seconds:

  • Leave the printer unplugged for at least 60 seconds to allow it to fully discharge.

Reconnect the Power Cord:

  • Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid using a power strip) and reconnect it to the printer.

Turn on the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn the printer back on. It should attempt to initialize and clear any temporary errors.

Perform a Factory Reset:

  • If the error persists, reset the printer to factory defaults:
    • On the printer control panel, hold down the Wireless and Cancel buttons at the same time until the printer restarts.
    • The printer should now reset to factory settings.

Reconfigure the Printer:

  • After the reset, you'll need to reconfigure the printer's settings, including connecting it to your Wi-Fi network and reinstalling any drivers if needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
