My printer hadn't been used for a while, I went to boot it up and it came up with a blue screen showing error code 00829C98. I have followed advice from previous posts on here - unplugged my printer for over 60 seconds (in one attempt I unplugged it for over a week), removed the ink cartridges, plugged it back in, etc. and the error is still showing. It comes up every time I boot up the printer unfailingly and I cannot get it to go away - the power button doesn't work and neither does anything else seem to. Any suggestions for how I can get this to shift would be appreciated.

Hi @caruth,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you've tried some standard troubleshooting steps already. However, the error code you provided doesn't seem to be a standard HP printer error code. It's possible that the code is specific to your printer model or a firmware issue. Here are some additional steps you can try.
-
Update Firmware:
- Visit the HP Support website for your printer model and check if there are any firmware updates available. If so, download and install the latest firmware for your printer.
-
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer while it is still turned on.
- Disconnect the other end of the power cord from the power source.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the power source.
- Reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.
-
Factory Reset:
- Please note that a factory reset will erase any custom settings on your printer.
- Consult your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
-
Check for Hardware Issues:
- Ensure that there are no obstructions or foreign objects inside the printer that may be causing the issue.
- Make sure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and not expired.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
