Hi @LAHA1,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting an error code 71.02.4A on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 All-In-One Printer typically indicates a hardware issue related to the printer's internal components.
Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:
Step 1: Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer using the power button.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Step 2: Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions
- Open the printer cover and check for any paper jams or foreign objects.
- Remove any obstructions carefully.
- Close the printer cover and restart the printer.
Step 3: Remove and Reinstall the Ink Cartridges
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Gently push each ink cartridge to release it and then remove it from the slot.
- Check for any obstructions in the ink cartridge area.
- Reinsert the ink cartridges securely into their respective slots.
- Close the ink cartridge access door.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
Step 4: Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Check for firmware updates on the HP support website.
- Download and install any available updates.
- Follow the instructions provided to update the firmware on your printer.
Step 5: Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
- Press and hold the printer's power button for about 15 seconds.
- Release the power button.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
Step 6: Perform a Semi-Full Reset
Performing a semi-full reset can help resolve more persistent issues. Note that this will reset your printer settings to factory defaults.
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Press and hold the “#” and “6” buttons on the printer’s control panel.
- While holding the buttons, plug the power cord back in.
- Continue holding the buttons until the printer turns on and the display shows a reset message.
- Release the buttons and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset.
