HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 Wide Format All-in-One

I've had a couple of times the printer "freeze" with only a POWER symbol and error code B8ADF646 on screen.

Power cycling the printer normally resets it, although sometimes it needs a hard power off (unplug the mains).

Anyone any idieas as to what may be causing this - printer is only 3 months old, so still under warranty so i'd prefer to swap it out if it may be something terminal - or ongoing.

Hi @TRSJon,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code B8ADF646 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 Wide Format All-In-One Printer indicates a problem with the printer's system firmware. The power symbol that is also displayed along with the error code indicates that the printer is not receiving the necessary power to function properly.

Here are some steps that you can follow to resolve this issue.

  • Reset the printer: Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait for at least 60 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
  • Update the firmware: Visit the HP website and download the latest firmware for your printer. Follow the instructions on the website to install the firmware update.
  • Clean the printhead: If the printhead is dirty, it can cause issues with the printer's functionality. Clean the printhead according to the instructions in the printer's user manual.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for the suggestions, but i'd already done Power cycle and head cleaning, and the firmware is up to date - but still having the occassional issue - as you mention power supply, if it happens again I'll swap out the PSU with another 7720 and see if the fault follows the PSU.

Thanks
