My Officejet Pro 8620 printer was working fine, but out of the blue, I received the message: "Printer failure: There is a problem with the printer or ink system...". I tried turning it off and on again, but that did nothing to solve the problem.
I then tried powering it off, unplugging the cord, plugging it back in, and turning it on, but still nothing. I unloaded and reloaded the paper roll with no effect. I removed and reseated the ink cartridges, but the problem persisted. I also tried going through the whole process without the ink and then putting the ink back in, but still, nothing changed.
When I attempted to use the HP Virtual Support Assistant for help, it detected my printer and serial number but provided no possible solution.
Could I please get a phone number or an email so I can resolve this frustrating and nerve-wracking issue?

Hi @Lulu0623,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've tried several troubleshooting steps for your HP Officejet Pro 8620 without success. The "Printer failure: There is a problem with the printer or ink system" message often indicates a serious issue with the printer hardware, printhead, or ink system.
here are a few additional steps you might consider trying:
1. Check for Any Obstructions or Jams:
- Open the printer and check for any paper jams, foreign objects, or small pieces of paper stuck inside.
2. Clean the Printhead:
- If you haven't already, try removing the printhead and gently cleaning the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water. Let it dry completely before reinserting.
3. Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP website.
4. Reset the Printer:
- Perform a full reset by unplugging the printer, pressing and holding the power button for 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in.
5. Use Genuine HP Cartridges:
- Ensure that all the ink cartridges are genuine HP products, as third-party or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause this error.
Refer to this document: HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer series User manual
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I’ve followed all the recommendations provided by the HP support webpage and this community page, but unfortunately, none of them have resolved the issue. I’ve checked for any obstructions or jams multiple times, cleaned the printhead three times, and reset the printer several times, but nothing has helped. Updating the printer firmware isn’t an option because the error prevents me from doing anything at all. I'm really frustrated and would appreciate any further assistance or alternative solutions.
