The Display reads " There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP." The printer has been turned off and on again several times with no change. I have shut it down, unplugged it for a minute, and restarted it with no success. I am currently performing a driver upgrade in hopes that it may solve the problem.

Hi @Demolition_Man,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you've already attempted some troubleshooting steps for the issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer. Here are some additional steps you can try.
- Check Ink Cartridges: Ensure that all ink cartridges are properly installed and that there are no errors or issues with them. Sometimes, an improperly seated or faulty ink cartridge can cause such errors.
- Clean Printhead: The problem could be due to a dirty or clogged printhead. Most HP printers have a utility for cleaning the printhead. You can access this through the printer's menu or through the printer software on your computer.
- Reset Printer: Try performing a hard reset on the printer. To do this, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer while it is still turned on. Wait for about a minute, then plug the power cord back in. Turn the printer back on and see if the error persists.
- Firmware Update: Ensure that the printer's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, firmware updates can fix bugs and issues that cause error messages like the one you're encountering.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
