So I seem not to be the only one but i just installed a brand new cyan hp ink cartridge and after it said thank you for using a genuine ink i automatically got that error. As soon as I put in the old empty one back in it went away. Thinking it was a fluke I exchange the cartridge for a brand new one... same response.. I would really like to be able to use my printer again instead of having a new ink cartridge turn my printer into a brick or buy a brand new one. I already installed the newest software this evening to see if that would help and nope.... still a brick... all the many power down/reset options..lol yeah those dont work. So HP this needs to be fixed ASAP and answer us that are having this horrible problem.

There's a chance that the printhead hasn't been installed properly or has been clogged with dried ink or debris. If this is the case, then cleaning your printhead may resolve the HP ink system error.

The error was not there when i took out the brand new cartridge and put the empty one back in. it did it twice now as soon as a new fresh out of the box cartridge was installed. Plus with all the other things i have tried they have been removed and inserted back in several times. still same result. fine with the old empty one. brick with the brand new one.
Plus with this error I have no access to any settings to clean, align or really do anything.

Hi @blueangelz,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are getting printer failure error on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a.
Please follow the steps listed below to reset the printer:
1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.
3. Wait 60 seconds.
4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
NOTE: HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
5. Turn the printer on.
You may also refer to the steps from this weblink.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
