Hello,
My HP Laserjet Pro 200 has the screen go white or black and the system freezes. I took it to a repair place and they replaced the main circuit board. It worked at the shop fine and when I got it home it also worked fine but as soon as I connected to my WIFI the exact same issue occurred.
it reboots and shows the start-up screen. Sometimes it flashes with an error 79 and sometimes the screen just goes white or black and totally freezes.
any help would be appreciated.

Hi @RobertG210,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Hello! It sounds like you're dealing with a particularly frustrating issue with your HP Laserjet Pro 200 printer. Since the problem recurs specifically when you connect the printer to your Wi-Fi, it's possible that the issue is related to the network settings or conflicts rather than a hardware fault, especially since the main circuit board replacement didn't permanently resolve the problem. Here are a few steps you can try to hopefully resolve the issue:
Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates include fixes for network issues that could be causing your printer to freeze. You can usually update the firmware by connecting the printer to a computer via USB and using HP's official software.
Reset Network Settings: Since the problem occurs when connecting to Wi-Fi, resetting the printer’s network settings could help. This will clear any existing configurations and allow you to set up the connection afresh. You can typically do this from the printer’s control panel under the network or wireless settings menu.
Change Wi-Fi Channel or Band: Interference from other wireless devices might be causing the issue. Try changing the channel or band (2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz) on your Wi-Fi router. This is especially useful if you live in a densely populated area where Wi-Fi channels are likely congested.
Isolate from Other Devices: Try connecting the printer to a different network temporarily (like a mobile hotspot) to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is related to your home network.
Check for Error 79 Specific Fixes: Since you mentioned an Error 79, this can sometimes be related to print jobs or firmware issues. Try removing any jobs in the print queue both from your computer and the printer itself. If the printer is networked, try disconnecting it from the network and restart it to see if it clears the error.
Hard Reset or Factory Reset: If none of the above works, you might consider a factory reset. This will erase all settings and restore the printer to its original factory state. Be aware that you'll need to reconfigure any settings you had previously.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
