Does anyone know where I can find step-by-step directions for the cleaning of a printhead on an HP Photosmart C8180 All-In-One printer?

Thanks,

Ed

If you have followed this document here, and are still getting the error message. One is looking at product replacement.

If you are still in warranty, HP may replace the printer at no cost to you. I'll link the information to get in touch with them below. The link will take you to a form to fill out. Once you fill it out and it is processed, it will give you the printers warranty information, a case number, and the phone number to call.

This printer has a printhead assembly, which cannot be removed and cleaned like other printheads. What one can do is remove the cartridges and clean the contacts on them and the contacts inside the printer chutes where the cartridges are inserted. Pages 140-141 of the user manual shows how to clean the cartridge contacts. Page 139 covers cleaning the printhead through the printer software and the control panel.

Thanks for the information

I tried all the suggestions you gave me but I'm still getting the blue screen with the alphanumeric error code and the ink system failure error code.  I've tried the step-by-step fixes for both of these error codes with no luck.  Is there anything else I can try?

I have had this printer since new. Recently there have been some print problems with it. I noticed there is a cracked component in the print head – see attachment.   I would image that my warranty has expired. If you could please send a part number for the cracked piece, or a new one (I will pay)
