HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

Have an All-In-One HP 8600 that worked great....until now.  Got message that black ink depleted.  So I changed it to a new,  out-of-box HP 950XL. Now I get "problem with the printer or ink system".   so I updated all drivers and reset and tried another new out-of-box 950XL. Same problem. I actually have 4 unused HP 950XL cartridges and tried them all {I know...definition of insanity).   All resulted in same problem/system message. BUT...If I reinstall the old/depleted cartridge, I do not get the error message except that printer telling me to replace cartridge because ink is depleted.  And around and around it goes.  I tried all solutions offered by Virtual Assistant. None worked. Other than wasting 4 ink cartridges because I cannot return, what else to try.  There is the same issue in the community support pages, suggestions from HP there did not work.  I really dont want to buy another printer. Help!!

The printhead latch was a  new step from the ones already found online. Unfortunately, after 4 attempts, it did not work.  I couldn't update software again as printer won't respond. It's locked into error message. maybe if I removed the  new cartridge and reinstalled the depleted cartridge,......it worked.  I was able to fake it out and get past the error message.  Printer software updated to latest level.   As soon as I installed full HP replacement cartridge, error message again.  I give up.

A new printhead is unorderable per your website.   I bought a new printer, which was the cheaper option than buying  the printhead via Amazon. They wanted $140 for the needed printhead...with no guarantee it would correct the problem.   I was able to buy a printer/fax/scanner/copier at Staples on Sale for $139.  My old nonfunctioning model  (HP 8600) of printer/scanner/fax/copier is available via Amazon. But who would pay $1043 for the same functions I got for $139? Definitely not me!

It had a good life.

Thanks for trying.
