Every time I try to print photos the paper jams. It prints fine on regular paper, I`ve changed the paper settings and run the different checks (cleaning etc). But I cant find a solution.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I see from your post that you are having issues while printing on photo paper. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
What type of HP Photo Paper are you using? For more details, please go through the printer specifications.
What is the size of the HP Photo Paper?
Is the Photo Paper glossy or matte?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Let's start off by updating the printer firmware. If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to install the latest firmware update on your printer from our HP support website. Alternatively you can also try to update the printer firmware directly from the printer control panel.
For more details on how to update, please use this link: HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to do a hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
When printing on different types of media you need to ensure that you are loading 1 type of media in the paper tray at a time. Therefore, you do not want to stack photo paper on top of plain white letter size paper as this can cause the paper to 'slip' in the paper tray and not feed correctly.
For now lets ensure that your photo paper is loaded correctly:
-
Open the paper tray door, and then pull it toward you to extend the paper tray.
-
Gently pull out the paper tray extender, and then lift up the paper catch.
Pull out the paper tray and the tray extender
-
Slide the paper width guides to their outermost position.
Slide out the paper width guides
-
Remove any paper from the paper tray.
-
Load a stack of photo paper into the middle of the paper tray, with the short edge forward and the print side down. Slide the stack into the tray until it rests against the paper stoppers at the end of the tray.
Load photo paper
-
Slide in the paper width guides in until they rest against the edges of the paper.
Slide in the paper width guides
-
Push the paper tray forward until it clicks into place.
NOTE: Push the paper tray all the way in to avoid an error message.

Hi Mr Singh,
Thanks for your helpful reply. I`ll be sure to try out the other ideas which you suggested. I`ve had the printer for a couple of years, but only ever used for rgular printing. This was the first time I ever tried photos, so was surprised when it didn`t work.
I`m from the UK but living and working in Japan. It was difficult to find HP specific paper without going online so I just bought some generic photo printing paper for Inkjet printers. the size I am trying is 2L (127-178mm), thickness 23mm and it is glossy. The brand name is Digio2.
I look forwrad to hearing from you again soon,
Kind regards,
Dan
