Hello!  I have a user who is the only one that prints a specific type of document from one of our systems.  Most of the time, the document prints correctly.  But about every 20 to 30 times it prints out about 20 pages of garbage.  The output starts with what is shown below.  The remaining pages are a single line at the top of the page that just looks like wingdings.  I've got the whole thing in a PDF file, but didn't see a way to attach a PDF to this post.  When this happens, simply printing the same document again tends to work.  This same behavior was seen with another employee who was using a different physical printer (Same model), but that employee no long prints these documents.

This is the installed driver:

I don't think this is an issue with the physical printer as we've seen it on different printers, and I don't think it's an issue with the driver as we've tried the latest V4 driver as well.  I am thinking either the application that is handing off the print job, or just corruption in the data, but those are just guesses.

At this point, I am at a loss.  Any ideas on what could be causing this issue and how to resolve it?

That print out tells me that the document contains PCL commands that are not understood by the driver. Based on the dates, I suggest you track down the older PcL5 universal print driver and try that.

Thanks for the reply.  It took a while to find an old PCL 5 driver and get it installed.  The user says that it has helped.  Now, if the problem is encountered, it only prints one page of garbage, and then the document prints (Which was not happening before).  When I went to install the PCL 5 driver, I saw the .inf files listed below.  Honestly, it's been so long since I installed a printer driver this way, that I forgot about this issue, so I was a bit unprepared, and just selected the first one.  After some Googling, I'm thinking that I should have selected hpcu170t.inf.

The user seems to be pretty happy with the way it is now since the issue crops up less often, and is 1 page instead of 20, but perhaps I will try to convince him to let me try another option and see if I can get this one completely solved.
