My print jobs go to the queue, but no farther. I have uninstalled & reinstalled the driver, I have emptied the queue.  I have been able to print a test paper, but none of my own.  I have temporarily removed the firewall.  Nothing.   I have also lost the capacity to type Control P and get a response.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.
Let's reset the Windows printing environment:
Turn off the printer, and then unplug the power cord.

In Windows, search for and open Services.

In the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and then click Stop.

Stopping the Print Spooler from the Services window

After the Print Spooler stops, close the Services window.

In Windows, open File Explorer.

Browse to C: > Windows > System 32 > spool > PRINTERS.

Delete all files in the PRINTERS folder.

Shut down your computer.

Reconnect the power cord to the printer, and then turn it on.

Turn on the computer.

And, also use HP Print and Scan Doctor on your Windows computer to help diagnose and fix printing and scanning issues.

  • Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.
  • Download HP Print and Scan Doctor, and then follow the prompts to install and open the tool.
  • On the welcome screen, click Start to select your printer and run the diagnostic.
  • If your printer is not found, click My product is not listed, and then follow the instructions to troubleshoot the connection.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
