Hi!

I get this annoying message on my app and there's literally no other information on to what to do next.

I enclosed picture (in French). Basically it says : "Warning, check your printer. There's a problem with your printer." And then... nothing else on the particular of this error.

That's it. I've run the diagnostic tool, everything is fine. The drivers are up to date. I can print. I can scan.

Please tell me what's wrong with this printer and how I can get rid of the message and/or solve this mysterious problem.

Thanks in advance! I'm going crazy here.

Welcome to the HP English Community --

Just a thought...

When I've seen this message in HP Smart and "all else" appears to be fine, the solution has been to restart the printer.

Will restarting printer (and possibly computer, too) work?

Maybe -- the message could certainly be used for more than one thing.

Hi! Thanks for you quick reply!

I did restart multiple times my computer and printer. That's why I'm extremely confused with this notification. Any other idea?

You are welcome.

Sorry, no other ideas that are actually about "your printer" and OS.

Different printer and I don't have single MacOS system to test.

It's a "general error" -- born of the code not knowing exactly what is wrong.

Ideas... perhaps good or perhaps a waste of your time...

Add a Restart of your router --

Will that help?

Maybe not -- it's fairly quick and does not hurt a healthy network.

You can try "Hide Printer" in HP Smart (Printer Settings) to remove the printer from the HP Smart application.

Restart the computer (Mac) - Sign in - "Add Printer"

Might be enough...

I don't know if there is an App Reset option in MacOS -- no way to check.

If there is such, it will be listed where ever in the OS your Apps are Installed -

One of the (Advanced" app options might be "Reset", another might be "Repair" (generally useless), another might be "Uninstall".

If the Reset the app option exists, this removes the application's data from within your MacOS account -- NO, it does not remove your mac user account, the app reset removes whatever data has been added in your account by HP Smart.  Reset (if available) is useful when the application in the File System is fine but the data the app has created in your account is corrupted, or messed up in some way.

Reset + Uninstall (and then reboot computer) will fix most issues that are "application related".

Sorry I can't be more specific ...

One of these days, I'll get a MacOS system and add it to the collection...

Okay, I'll try everything you suggest! It seems like the last resort.
