[edit]

I replaced the Black ink cartridge with a genuine HP black ink cartridge. Printer detected the new cartridge and it printed the alignment paper automatically. I scanned the alignment paper using the Black Copy button. The printer is stuck for last 30 minutes and the Device Status says 'Calibrating'. It doesnt allow me to print.

@victor27,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • What is the exact model for your printer?
  • What is the operating system you are using?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

In case if you have HP Envy 7155 printer please follow the below steps.

1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

2. Remove USB cable, if present.

3. Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

4. Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

5. Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Then remove the cartridges and turn off the printer and then turn it on after a minute. Install the cartridges only when it is prompted and check whether the issue is resolved.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thanks for the response.

The printer in question was HP deskjet 2540. The issue was that the other cartridge (colour cartridge) was low on Ink and due to that, printer was unable to complete the alignment. I removed the colour cartridge and everything started working fine after that. Now the printer is working fine in single cartridge mode.

@victor27,

I read the post and am glad that you have a working printer now. It is nice to hear from you again. As @The_Fossette is out for the day, I am replying to you. Replacing the color cartridge with another one might restore the complete functionality of the printer.

Thanks and have a great week ahead.

I have tried the suggested solution but my printer is still showing the same calibrating message. By the way my printer is a Laserjet Pro MFP M127fn

Let's follow the below solution.

Solution one: Load plain white paper in the input tray

If you have color, photo, or used paper loaded in the input tray when you try to align the cartridges, the alignment might fail. Follow these steps to load white plain paper, and then try the alignment again.

  1. Remove the color, photo, or used paper from the input tray.

  2. Slide the paper width guide to its outermost position.

  3. Load unused plain white letter or A4 sized paper into the input tray.

  4. Slide the paper width guide inward until it rests against the edge of the paper.

  5. Press OK. The product aligns the cartridges.

  • If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.

  • If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.

Solution two: Align the cartridges

Follow these steps to align the cartridges from the product control panel.

  1. Press Setup () on the product control panel.

  2. Use the arrows () to select Tools, and then press OK.

  3. Use the arrows to select Align Printer, and then press OK. The product aligns the cartridges.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Hi Raj 1788

please be informed that I just tried your solution and it still isn’t working.  The printer is able to print some jobs but whenever I try to copy a document or even scan it switches to calibration. I hope you will provide me with a solution.

Rgds,
