HP OfficeJet Pro 9012e All-in-One Printer

After changing one of our ink cartridges our printer is now stuck in 'Validating Mode', we have tried to reset the printer but this hasn't worked.

It has been like this for a few hours now.

Hi @ordershelp

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When a printer gets stuck in "Validating Mode," it usually means it's having trouble recognizing the new ink cartridge. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check the Cartridge Installation:

  • Make sure the new cartridge is installed correctly. Remove it and reinstall it, ensuring it clicks into place securely.

Inspect the Cartridge:

  • Look for any protective tape or plastic that might still be on the cartridge. Sometimes, manufacturers leave a piece of tape on the contacts that can prevent proper communication.

Clean the Contacts:

  • Gently wipe the metal contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer with a lint-free cloth. This can help ensure a good connection.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the wall, and wait for about 5 minutes. Then plug it back in and turn it on again.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the printer HP website to see if there are any firmware updates available that might resolve the issue.

Try a Different Cartridge:

  • If possible, try using another new cartridge to see if the issue persists. The cartridge you installed might be defective.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
