I am unable to get anything to print.  I was hoping to use the Diagnose & Fix function but when I go to the pull down under "Printers" in the HP Smart app, Diagnose & Fix is not executable (Only "Add / Setup a Printer" is in BOLD).

Hi @1lostcause

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering a "Printer Unavailable" issue and can't access the "Diagnose & Fix" option in the HP Smart app, here are some steps to help resolve it:

Check Printer Power and Connections:

  • Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your device.
  • If using USB, ensure the cable is securely connected.

Restart Printer and Device:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart the device you're using with the HP Smart app.

Update HP Smart App:

  • Make sure the HP Smart app is up to date. Check your app store for any available updates.

Add Printer Manually:

  • Open the HP Smart app and click on "Add Printer." If your printer appears in the list, try adding it again.

Check Printer Status:

  • Make sure the printer is not showing any error lights or messages on its display. If there are, follow the on-screen instructions to resolve them.

Printer Settings:

  • If possible, access your printer's settings directly through its control panel and check for any connectivity issues or network settings.

Reinstall HP Smart App:

  • If the above steps don’t work, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the HP Smart app.

Firewall and Security Software:

  • Sometimes, security software or firewalls can block printer communication. Check if any security settings on your network may be affecting the printer.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool on your computer if you have access to one. It can help diagnose and fix common printing issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
