I was told that my printer frequency and my Wi-Fi frequency aren’t the same and that’s why I wouldn’t be able to print. I need to fix the frequency so they can be both working. Can someone tell me how I change the frequency so I can print again?

Hi @Caren42 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 2755e printer is trying to connect to a Wi-Fi network on a different frequency band than it supports. Most modern routers use both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, but some devices (including many printers) only support the 2.4 GHz band. Here’s how to address the issue:

Step 1: Check Your Router Settings HP printers - Wi-Fi connection is lost after router or network settings change

  1. Log in to your router’s admin page: To do this, open a web browser and enter your router's IP address (usually something like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1). Refer to your router's manual for the exact address and login credentials.
  2. Find the wireless settings: Look for a section related to Wi-Fi settings or wireless networks.
  3. Enable 2.4 GHz band: Ensure that the 2.4 GHz band is enabled. Most printers, including your HP DeskJet 2755e, will only connect to this frequency.
  4. Disable the 5 GHz band (temporarily): If the 5 GHz band is causing issues, you can try disabling it temporarily to help your printer connect. Once the printer is connected to the Wi-Fi, you can re-enable the 5 GHz band.

Step 2: Connect the Printer to the Wi-Fi HP printer setup (Wi-Fi network)

  1. Reset Wi-Fi settings on your printer: If you’ve already tried connecting your printer to the Wi-Fi but failed, you may need to reset the network settings on the printer.
    • On your printer, press the Wireless button (or the Wi-Fi button) and hold it until the wireless light starts blinking (this may take about 5 seconds).
    • This will reset the Wi-Fi settings and allow you to reconnect.
  2. Reattempt the Wi-Fi connection:
    • Using the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel, try to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network again, ensuring you select the 2.4 GHz network if your router broadcasts both bands.
    • If you have a dual-band router, ensure the printer connects to the 2.4 GHz network.

Step 3: Reconfigure Your Devices

If you have both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, and the printer connects successfully to the 2.4 GHz network, you should be able to print again. Make sure your computer is also connected to the same 2.4 GHz network for seamless printing.

Let me know if you need further assistance with any of these steps!
