Hello Mr Robot,

Thanks for the response.

There is no problem with the printer whilst using HP ink cartridges.

But HP ink cartridges are pricey.. so this time I decided to get refilled ink cartridges instead.

The printer recognises these are not genuine HP cartridges.. the following error message comes on:

'Non Hp cartridge(s) installed. Hp cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of Non Hp supplies'

... and I cannot get rid of it... basically the printer stops working!

I didn't think HP can stop people from using other ink cartridges in their printers!!!

Anyway, is there anything that I can do so that the printer accepts non HP cartridges?

Thanks again.

@Pharmando, Thanks for your quick response and time.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

As you mentioned you are using refilled ink cartridges.

Did you bypassing the message and continue printing? Simply press "Ok" to acknowledge the cartridge message and try to print.

If that does not work try using an HP genuine cartridge to make sure the printer works fine. You can switch back once you made sure of the printer functionality.

Hope this answers your query!

I cannot bypass the error message by pressing the 'ok' tab.  I keep pressing the 'ok' tab but nothing happens... the message stays on & I cannot use the printer.  But when I take the refilled  ink cartride out & put back the old HP cartridge in... the printer works fine!!!

Follow these steps to clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the product.

  1. Gather the following materials:

    • Dry foam-rubber swabs, lint-free cloth, or any soft material that will not come apart or leave fibers (coffee filters work well)

    • Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might contain contaminants that can damage the cartridges)

         CAUTION:

Do not use platen cleaners or alcohol to clean the cartridge contacts. These can damage the cartridge or the product.

  2. Press the Power button () to turn on the product.

  3. Open the access door. The carriage moves to the center of the product. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before continuing.
