When trying to AirPrint from my iOS devise (iPhone or iPad) and even from my MacBook, the print job will begin printing but then suddenly cancel the print job with no error or reason. I have full ink, full paper, solid internet connection, and I keep the document I’m printing pulled up the entire time. Sometimes, if I print only a few pages at a time, it will complete the job. Other times, it will cancel half way through a page. There have also been times when the job has canceled in the middle and then restarted again only to cancel at the exact same spot in the document, wasting paper, ink, and my HP Instant Ink subscription count. I’m about ready to chuck my HP printer!

Hi @Efdm2024,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds very frustrating! This issue might be caused by a few different factors. Let’s go through some troubleshooting steps to help resolve it.

Check Printer Queue and Reset

  • Clear your printer’s queue (if there are any pending jobs) on your iOS devices and MacBook. Restart the printer, the device, and the router to reset the connection.

Reinstall Printer Drivers and Software

  • Remove and reinstall the HP printer drivers and software (HP Smart or any other printer management tool you're using) on your devices. Ensure they are up to date.

Network Issues

  • Even though you have a solid internet connection, try connecting the printer to a different network (e.g., direct Wi-Fi or wired) to see if this helps resolve the issue.

AirPrint Issues

  • If you’re using AirPrint, try switching to HP's own print service or the HP Smart app to see if it improves stability.

Firmware Update

  • Check for any available firmware updates for your HP printer. Sometimes, these updates can resolve printing bugs and connection issues.

Try Printing From Another Device

  • Try printing from a different device (another iPhone/iPad/Mac) to see if the issue persists across multiple devices. This can help identify if the issue is related to your specific device or the printer itself.

Check for Printer Sleep Mode/Power Saving

  • Some printers will stop processing print jobs if they enter sleep mode or power-saving mode during a job. Make sure the printer doesn’t go into sleep mode while printing.

Paper Size and Type

  • If you're printing on unusual paper sizes or types, ensure your printer is correctly set up to handle it. Misconfiguration in paper settings can sometimes lead to incomplete prints.

Check Instant Ink Subscription

  • Ensure that your Instant Ink subscription is active, and there are no issues with the account or cartridge deliveries. You can check the status from the HP Instant Ink website or app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
