I am receiving the following error message when trying to print... "the indicated cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer. If this problem persists, please replace the cartridges". I replaced the cartridges and am still receiving the same error message.

Hi @EmpowerWellness,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for sharing the error message. If you're seeing "the indicated cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer" even after replacing them, it usually points to a connection issue between the cartridges and the printer, not the cartridges themselves.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to fix it:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
2. Remove and Reinsert the Cartridges
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Remove all cartridges.
- Check for:
- Protective tape is still on the new cartridges (remove it if present).
- Ink or debris on the gold contacts (clean gently with a lint-free cloth and a bit of distilled water or isopropyl alcohol).
- Reinsert the cartridges firmly until they click into place.
3. Clean the Cartridge Contacts
- Use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab with a bit of isopropyl alcohol.
- Gently clean the gold contacts on both the cartridge and the printer carriage.
- Let them dry for a few minutes before reinserting.
4. Update Printer Firmware
- Go to HP Software & Drivers.
- Enter your printer model.
- Download and install the latest firmware update.
5. Try a Different Cartridge (if available)
- If possible, try another new cartridge to rule out a defective one.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
