I've had this printer a little over a year and it's been working great. Able to print from multiple laptops and phones. Last week it magically stopped working. Constant Amber light on the output tray. Information (i) button flashing. When I push the i button, a report prints that says the printer is not connected to the internet and will only print HP reports. Further down that same page, it says I'm connected to my home WiFi and connected to the internet. So....clearly the system is confused. I restarted the system. I restarted my router. I've cycled through attempts to reconfigure WiFi connections. Nothing is fixing this problem. Even better, I'm able to connect wirelessly to my printer through HP's website (the one I'm on now) to run a diagnostic tool, and the site says everything looks good. HP support is extremely cryptic, so I'm hoping someone here has the magic sauce to help. Oh, and I tried to connect the printer directly to a laptop with a USB cord. It still won't print - gives me the amber light and flashing "i" icon. Push that button, and it still says it can't print without being connected to the internet. Ungh.

Hi @studndave,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY 6055e All-In-One Printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network but not to the internet, you may encounter issues when trying to print or perform other online functions. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Check Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. Verify the network name (SSID) and password you entered on the printer.
Router and Network Check:
- Restart your Wi-Fi router. Sometimes, connectivity issues can be resolved by power cycling your router.
- Make sure your internet connection is working properly on other devices like computers, smartphones, or tablets.
- If your internet is not working, contact your internet service provider (ISP) to resolve the issue.
Printer's Network Settings:
- Access your printer's settings menu through its control panel or a web browser.
- Check the printer's IP address and subnet mask settings. Ensure they match your Wi-Fi network's settings.
- Disable any proxy or VPN settings on the printer that may be interfering with the internet connection.
Update Firmware:
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP ENVY 6055e printer. If so, install the updates. These updates may contain bug fixes and improvements that can resolve connectivity issues.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
- If you suspect an issue with the Wi-Fi connection, you can try disconnecting and then reconnecting your printer to the Wi-Fi network.
- You may also want to "Forget" the network on the printer and then set it up again from scratch.
Network Troubleshooting:
- Run a network diagnostics test on your printer (if available). This can help identify any network-related problems.
- Check for any interference from other electronic devices that might be affecting your Wi-Fi signal.
Firewall and Security Settings:
- Make sure that your router's firewall settings are not blocking the printer from accessing the internet.
- Verify that your printer's security settings are not blocking internet access. This might involve checking the printer's firewall settings or access control lists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for the response. If you read my original post again, you'll notice there is something weird going on. The very top of the printer status report says that the printer is not connected to the internet. Halfway down the same page it discusses my wifi connection, and how the signal strength to my wifi is excellent and....wait for it...I'm connected to the internet.
How can the same report tell me I'm both connected and not connected? I'm able to access the printer for diagnostics wirelessly online (this was also mentioned in my original post), so what would cause this thing to trip offline? Everything else in my house is wireless and working fine, but just for fun I restarted my router. Didn't help. I can't even print locally with a USB cord, which is extremely frustrating. I need another solution please.

I have the same issue - printer report says connected to my wifi, which has active internet in use by other devices. Printer was working, suddenly says not on the internet. WIFI yes, internet no. Printer has been reset, and reinstalled with HPSmart app.
