I have thoroughly cleaned the inside of the printer and its rollers.  I found no paper jams and the cartridges are not stuck.  I have followed a couple of tutorials on how to resolve the E4 issue but no success.  I think I now need to reset the printer (or do some sort of "hard boot") to get in running again.  

 

See, every  time I turn it on the same E4 message shows up at the top of the display and the "paper icon" with an X in it starts blinking.  And this is true even after I diligently and thoroughly cleaned the inside and found no paper jams whatsoever.
