Hi @REPIE
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query.
Since your HP printer can successfully print a Printer Status Report, the printer itself appears to be functioning. The issue may be related to the Windows printer configuration, a stuck print queue, or the Print Spooler service.
Please follow the detailed troubleshooting steps below.
Check the default printer setting: Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners. Turn off Let Windows manage my default printer, select your HP printer, and click Set as default.
Clear all pending print jobs
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Navigate to Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select your HP printer.
- Click Open print queue.
- If any documents are listed, right-click each document and select Cancel. If available, use the queue menu to cancel all documents.
- Wait until the print queue is empty.
- Close the print queue window and try printing a test document.
- If the documents remain stuck or cannot be removed, continue to Step 3.
Restart the Windows Print Spooler service
- Press Windows + R on your keyboard.
- Type services.msc and press Enter.
- In the Services window, locate Print Spooler.
- Right-click Print Spooler and select Restart.
- Wait a few seconds for the service to restart.
- Close the Services window.
- Return to Printers & scanners and check whether your HP printer can now be selected as the default printer.
- Try printing a test page from Windows.
- If the print queue is still stuck, proceed to Step 4.
Manually clear the stuck print queue
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Right-click Print Spooler and select Stop.
- Open File Explorer by pressing Windows + E.
- Navigate to the following folder:
- C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
- If Windows requests administrator permission, select Continue.
- Delete the files inside the PRINTERS folder. Do not delete the folder itself.
- Return to the Services window.
- Right-click Print Spooler and select Start.
- Close the window and restart your computer.
- After Windows restarts, open Printers & scanners and check the default printer setting again.
Remove and reinstall the HP printer
- If the issue persists, the installed printer configuration or driver may be corrupted.
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select your HP printer.
- Click Remove and confirm the action.
- Disconnect the USB cable if the printer is connected by USB. If it is connected over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, leave it connected to the network.
- Restart your computer.
- Download the appropriate driver or installation software for your exact printer model from the official HP website: https://support.hp.com/drivers
- Enter your printer model and select the correct operating system.
- Download and install the recommended printer software, following the on-screen instructions.
- Add the printer again and set it as the default printer.
- Print a test document to verify the result.
Test printing from another application
Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.
