Hi @Janice860,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

To resolve the connectivity issue with your HP LaserJet MFP M139we printer, where the computer is not connecting and the exclamation light is blinking, let's go through a detailed set of troubleshooting steps:

Check Wireless Connection:

  • Verify Connection: Ensure that the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. You can print a network configuration page by pressing the Wi-Fi button and the Information button together. Review the printed page to confirm the Wi-Fi status.
  • Reconnect to Wi-Fi: If the printer is not connected to the correct network, press and hold the Wireless button for 5 seconds until it starts blinking. Use the HP Smart app to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Check Printer Status:

  • Blinking Exclamation Light: This light indicates an error condition, such as a connectivity issue or a missing configuration.
  • Open the HP Smart App: Check for any error messages displayed within the app. If prompted, follow any on-screen instructions to address the error.

Restart Devices:

  • Power Cycle the Printer:
    • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
    • Unplug the printer from the power source, wait for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.
    • Turn the printer on and wait for it to be ready.
  • Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart of your computer can resolve connectivity issues.

Check Printer Driver and Software:

  • Reinstall Printer Drivers:
    • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
    • Uninstall any existing printer software from your computer through the Control Panel.
    • Install the new drivers and follow the setup process to add the printer again.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hi @Janice860

Please find the remaining steps below.

Verify Printer Settings on the Computer:

  • Set as Default Printer: Ensure that your HP LaserJet MFP M139we is set as the default printer on your computer. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, and select Set as Default Printer.
  • Clear Print Queue: Check if there are any stuck print jobs that may be causing the issue. Right-click on the printer icon, select See what’s printing, and cancel any pending print jobs.

Check for Paper Jam and Cartridge Issues Again:

  • Open All Access Doors: Even though you mentioned no paper jam, open all the printer's access points, including the toner access and paper tray, and ensure nothing is stuck inside.
  • Cartridge Check: Confirm that the toner cartridge is seated correctly by removing it and then reinserting it. Ensure the protective strips or seals have been removed.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Update Firmware: Go to the HP Support website and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Updating the firmware can resolve many issues including connectivity problems.

Reset the Printer Network Settings:

  • Reset Network Settings: Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button together for 3 seconds to reset the network settings. This will allow you to set up the wireless connection from scratch.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool, which can automatically diagnose and resolve many printing, scanning, and connectivity issues.

Tips:

  • Firewall and Antivirus Settings: Check if your firewall or antivirus software is blocking the printer connection. Temporarily disable them to see if this resolves the issue.
  • Check Router Settings: Ensure that your router is not blocking the printer's IP address or port.

If you have followed all these steps and the problem persists, consider resetting the printer to factory defaults as a last resort.

Keep me posted for further assistance
