First let me say I saw this question elsewhere & followed ALL the suggested steps and none of them worked. The forum bot suggested I start a new question since the other one was old. This problem happened infrequently until recently and now it happens every time I try to print an envelope. After adjusting all the settings and loading from 1-10 envelopes ( I tried everything since I don't know what the issue is ) the printer says it's out of paper.

There's a youtube tutorial from HP that shows how to clean the pickup rollers and I even tried that.

Just to reiterate: I've used the HP Smart app, the EWS app and the Windows interface to make sure paper type selected is #10 envelope and paper tray is main tray. I appreciate any new suggestions!

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

 

I see that you are facing an issue with printing on envelopes from your Printer.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

 

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

 

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

 

C) Refer to the steps on this link to further troubleshoot.

 

D) If the issue still persists, uninstall the printer software by following the steps from this link and restart the devices.

 

E)  Install the printer software by clicking on the link again and let me know if that resolves the issue.

 

Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

 

F) Refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Thank you for the detailed instructions. Sadly, they failed. I now believe it is a mechanical failure, i.e., the rollers simply aren't sensing/picking up envelopes. I did "force" one to print by pushing it farther in on the tray than it is supposed to be. The printing was slightly off, but it did print.
