Hi, my  HP Envy Inspire 7200 is set as default printer and connected through WIFI.

When I send a print order to the printer, the printer stays in waiting mode. I think the printer knows it is receiving a printer order, and also on computer screen it is clear what order is send to the printer.

How do I put the printer from WAITING mode to that it starts to print the required document??

Hi @hdw2

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Envy Inspire 7200 printer is receiving the print job but remains stuck in a "waiting" state, and is not printing the document. This can happen due to a variety of reasons, such as a communication error between the printer and the computer, an issue with the printer's queue, or a network-related issue.

Let's walk through some troubleshooting steps to help you get your printer out of waiting mode and back to printing:

1. Check the Printer's Status

  • Look at the printer’s display: If your printer has a screen, check if it shows any error messages or warnings (such as low ink, paper jam, or connectivity issues). Address any errors that appear.
  • Check the status in the printer queue: On your computer, open the Printers & Scanners settings:
    • Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
    • Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click on the HP Envy Inspire 7200 printer and select See what's printing. If there are any stuck jobs in the print queue, cancel or clear them. Sometimes, a print job can get stuck and cause the printer to stay in waiting mode.

2. Restart the Printer and Computer

  • Power cycle the printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait about 30 seconds, and plug it back in. Turn it back on and see if it starts printing.
  • Restart your computer: This ensures that the computer re-establishes the connection with the printer and resolves any software issues that might be causing the print job to remain in "waiting" mode.

3. Clear the Print Queue

Sometimes a stuck print job in the queue can prevent the printer from starting the next job. To clear the print queue:

  • On Windows:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    2. Right-click on the HP Envy Inspire 7200 and select See what's printing.
    3. If there are any print jobs in the queue, cancel them by clicking Cancel All Documents from the Printer menu.Check Printer Connection (Wi-Fi)

Since you're connected through Wi-Fi, network connectivity issues can cause delays or prevent the printer from printing.

  • Check the Wi-Fi connection on both your printer and your computer. Ensure they are both connected to the same network.
  • Reconnect to the network: Try reconnecting the printer to Wi-Fi. You can do this through the printer's control panel or settings menu (usually under the Network or Wi-Fi settings).
  • On the printer's display, look for an option to check the network status or Wi-Fi signal strength. If the printer shows a weak connection or isn't connected, try reconnecting it to the Wi-Fi network.

5. Set the Printer as Default Again

Sometimes, the printer might not be properly set as the default printer, even if you previously selected it. To ensure the right printer is being used:

  • Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners. Right-click on the HP Envy Inspire 7200 and choose Set as default printer.
  • Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, then select the HP Envy Inspire 7200 and set it as the default.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
