Hi @HelpTim,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0x610004a on an HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-In-One Printer typically indicates an issue with the ink system. While the prompt to turn off and on the printer is a common troubleshooting step, there are a few additional things you can try.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the printer.
  • Turn on the printer.

Inspect for Obstructions:

  • Open the printer access door and check for any obstructions in the paper path or around the ink cartridges.
  • Make sure there is no piece of paper or foreign object causing the issue.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and are not empty.
  • Try reseating the ink cartridges. Remove them and then reinstall them securely.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware may resolve certain issues.

Clean the Printhead:

  • You can try cleaning the printhead. Most printers have a utility for this purpose.
  • Refer to your printer's manual or HP's support website for instructions on how to clean the printhead.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
