HP Officejet Pro X576dw Multifunction Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

There’s an error  number 0X60000d3 on the printers screen.  I’ve reset it according to the manufacturer suggestions and it’ didn’t fix the problem.  I can’t reset it to the manufacturers setting b/c the screen doesn’t give me the option to return  to the main screen.  I’ve checked for paper jams, obstructions included but not limited to insects that have somehow gotten inside the paper feed.  The printer carriage will not return to the top where I can check the cartridges.

Hi @Freedom58 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the error code 0x61000d3 on your HP Officejet Pro X576dw usually indicates an issue with the printer carriage or a possible paper jam that the printer isn’t detecting. Since you've already done several troubleshooting steps, here are a few more actions that may help:

Power Cycle with Carriage Access:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
  • Wait for about a minute, then manually check if you can gently move the carriage back and forth. This may help in freeing any potential obstructions.
  • Reconnect the printer to power and turn it back on to see if the error clears.

Partial Reset:

  • With the printer powered on, unplug it from the power outlet (not just the printer's power button).
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on. This can sometimes reset minor firmware issues.

Inspect for Obstructions:

  • Remove the paper tray and use a flashlight to check all visible areas for debris.
  • Ensure there are no small pieces of paper or foreign objects in the paper feed path or the carriage area that could be causing a blockage.

Reinstall Firmware (if accessible from the Mac): Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check if HP offers a firmware update for the Officejet Pro X576dw compatible with macOS Monterey. Sometimes updating the firmware can resolve carriage errors.
  • Download and install the latest firmware directly from HP's support page for your printer model.

Seek Repair or Service:

  • If the error persists, it could indicate a hardware issue with the carriage or encoder strip, which may require professional servicing. Contacting HP Support for further diagnostics or repair options could be necessary.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
