HP Office Jet 5740 - Error code B80912C8 - can't get rid of the error.

Powered computer & printer down & brought back up - error still comes up.  I've tried unplugging the power cord from the computer & wall.  Plug power cord back into wall & then printer, error still comes up "B80912C8".  Can't get rid of the error.

@Karm123, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

To resolve error code B80912C8 on your HP OfficeJet 5740 printer, follow these steps. Note that these steps are quite similar to those for resolving carriage jams and other related errors:

Reset the Printer:

  • Make sure the printer is powered on.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the power source and to the printer.
  • Ensure the printer powers on by pressing the Power button if it does not automatically turn on.

Check for Any Jammed Paper:

  • Open the input tray and remove any loose sheets of paper.
  • Move the carriage manually to ensure there is no paper obstructing its movement.

Inspect the Ink Cartridge Access Area:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove and properly reinstall the ink cartridges.

Check Connections:

  • Ensure all connections, including USB cables, are properly seated.
  • Avoid using power strips or surge protectors temporarily and connect the printer directly to a wall outlet.

Clean the Printer:

  • Inspect and clean the rollers and any areas where debris might be obstructing the printer mechanics.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
