I get the following error message in device manager, under "events"/information - Device SWD\PRINTENUM\WSD-b5e6ed93-93a9-42ba-9433-274e67406ba5 requires further installation.
This error is related to a wireless configuration, I also get a similar message when trying to connect with USB connection.
I can test print from the "HP Smart" app, but I cannot print from within Windows.
I can print wireless from my wife's laptop, and I can print from my phone. Just not from my Windows PC.
I've uninstalled/re-installed, updated drivers, disabled Anti-Virus, tried WSD port, IP port, USB port, they all give the same error of requiring further installation, or device is not connected.

Hi @Jerry58CT,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've taken several troubleshooting steps already, but let's try a few more things to see if we can resolve the issue:
- Check Printer Status: Make sure there are no error messages or warnings displayed on the printer itself. If there are any issues with ink cartridges, paper jams, or other hardware problems, they need to be resolved first.
- Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart of both your computer and the printer can resolve connectivity issues.
- Check Windows Services: Ensure that the necessary Windows services related to printing are running. You can do this by typing "services.msc" into the Windows search bar, then find services like "Print Spooler" and ensure they are running and set to start automatically.
- Firewall and Security Settings: Temporarily disable any firewall or security software on your computer to see if they might be blocking the connection to the printer.
- Clean Reinstallation of Drivers: Completely uninstall the printer drivers and software from your computer. Then, download the latest drivers and software from the HP website specifically for your printer model. Software and Drivers for HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 All-in-One Printer
- USB Connection: If you're still having issues with USB connection, try using a different USB cable and connecting to different USB ports on your computer. Sometimes, the issue could be with the cable or the port.
- Windows Troubleshooter: Use the built-in Windows troubleshooter to diagnose and fix printer problems. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, then select Printer and run the troubleshooter.
- Update Windows: Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date with the latest updates from Microsoft. Sometimes, updates can include fixes for issues related to printer connectivity.
