My HP Envy 4520 suddenly started flashing an error message that the ink cartridge needed to be reinstalled. After checking the print cartridge and making sure it was secure, it printed a couple of pages and again I got the same message. I'm now getting a emails from Insta Ink saying
Since you recently installed one or more store-bought cartridges in your HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer, we wanted to check in and see if we can help. |
I haven't installed any new cartridge and certainly not a "store-bought" cartridge. Of course, Insta Ink is no help with the issue. The only response I get from insta Ink is when I get the bill. Any suggestions?

@MOM23BOIZ
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Does it happen with all cartridges that you insert?
I'd be happy to help.
Let's try to reset the Printer here:
Reset the product
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.
Try a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16
Let me know if this helps.
