My printer now fails to obey instruction to print from computer (HP Laptop). Word and Outlook pages come out blank (except for colour pictures in text). Excel prints only grid lines and colour infills. No text in anything in black or colour.
In an effort to fix, I've tried downloading Driver update. It has been downloiaded into my Downloads folder - but I can't see how to install. Don't know if this would fix problem anyway.

I'm afraid that I failed to follow recommended route.
Too nervous to uninstall ALL HP software. However, did DOWNLOAD Full Feature Software and Drivers for J5780 Printer - but was again unable to find how to INSTALL it.
So (on 11 May) I tried System Restore back to 9 May in the hope that Printer would again work for me- but computer failed to finish RESTART process at end of Restore procedure and indicated that there was a problem. It offered me the option of cancelling the System Restore and returning to 11 May - which I did. And, hey presto, when restarted back on 11th May, the Printer is working perfectly and responding perfectly to print instructions from the computer.
So all's well. But I still dont't have (as far as I can see) the Full Feature software installed. My Officejet J5780 is just plugged into the computer and selected as the default printer in the Control Panel.
Thanks for all your help.

Thanks Sabretooth04 for your reply.
Print alignment report looks okay to me. I scanned and tried to post with this - but rejected because too big.
I also tried to reply directly to your email attaching scan of report - but delivery failed because mailbox full.
But I'm technically naive - and may be doing something wrong!

Fully de-install and remove the printer and all its software. Use this program here:
http://www.iobit.com/en/advanceduninstaller.php
When shown use Powerful Scan at the end and delete all registry entries shown for the printer.
Now go back and reinstall the Full Featured Software and Drivers from the HP web site.

Thanks again for your replies....
Tried to do as you advised. Downloaded Full Feature Software and Drivers from your link to HP website - but no guideline came up for Installation.
Tried again by going directly to website - downloaded again - but again could not find how to Install.
So I have a couple of downloads in my Downloads folder - but have have not been able to find an Installation guide.
(The Officejet J5780 printer is included as the default printer in my Control Panel but I can find no related programs to uninstall).

Sorry but you will have to search your computer to find out where the file is being stored. After you uninstall all the HP software now go back and install it again with that file you found on your computer.
