HP Photosmart 6510 e-ALL-in-one printer-B211a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Beginning after the July Microsoft Windows update ("Printernightmare" problem began) my HP Photosmart 6510 e-All-in-one Printer-B211a began not working and started receiving the following message in the display on the printer:

⚠️Printer Failure

0xc19a0042

There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn off, then On. If you continue to get this message, contact HP.

I've literally spent days upon days in attempt to fix this & have tried trying everything that I've seen suggested with no luck. The problem began right after the July windows update in which windows changed the default settings so you have to have administrative privileges for your printer. I installed the August windows update for this specific problem ("Printernightmare") that was supposed to fix it however it didn't. I know the problem is not the cartridges as I've gone through 4-5 new sets of cartridges from 2 different companies. I already tried reinstalling the printer drivers & software from HP's website both before and after the windows updates with no change. I've already reset the printer by pulling the power cord from the back of the printer & from the wall for at least several minutes numerous times. I've followed all the Microsoft Windows updates suggestions for problems with Printernightmare to the best of my ability but some of it is like trying to read a different language in trying to understand it. I can't function without the ability to print and scan both personally & professionally & could probably have bought another printer with all the money I've spent having to print & fax things from a UPS store. There has to be an easier way to figure out this issue. Someone with knowledge about this please help! I would be so appreciative!

@HP2_Difficult, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to print due to this error. Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - Oxc19a0005 or similar error code displays

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your computer.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Check for any jams inside the printer and make sure the print carriage is moving freely.

Follow the steps on - Carriage jam or E3 error

If the error persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue with the printer. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

I've already tried all of the recommended steps several times prior to your response & again after your response & still get the same error. When I Google the error I get the following:

What causes the HP Printer error Oxc19a0042?

Hp Error Oxc19a0042 is usually caused by erroneously configured system settings or uneven entries in the Windows registry.

I'm pretty sure the error is from the July 2021 windows update (Printernightmare) that made you have to have administrative privileges as the default for your printer. How do I access and change these settings? I've read about having to use the command prompt and type something in it to change the the settings to enable administrative privileges but I don't understand how to access command prompt & what to type per Microsofts instructions.
I just need to know if this specific error is a result of the July windows update "Printernightmare" (that is when the printer error first began, right after downloading the July 2021 windows updates & my printer hasn't worked ever since) or is a problem with the printer itself? At this pint, I'd be ecstatic to know it is solely a problem with the printer itself, I'd buy a new HP printer to be able to print and scan again but it won't do me any good if the problem is from the windows registry settings from the windows update. I would be buying a new printer & would still have the same issue. It would cost me about the same amount of money to have the geek squad come out to my house just to diagnose the problem with my printer and or windows settings on my P.C. as buying a new printer. I could buy a new printer for about the same cost as they charge just to make a house call diagnosis ($150). The Printernightmare issue from the July windows update is a very well known issue that affected a lot of printers so I know HP support has to be familiar with it and how to resolve it with the correct administrative privileges or if it's solely a cause from the printer itself (this error is a well known issue on HP printers for many years). Thanks

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

You mentioned on 9/14/21 you would forward my problem to the appropriate HP team. It's almost a month later & I still haven't heard anything back from HP support nor can I print.
