Cyan ink cartridge was depleted. When I am replacing it I get the following error message: Printer Failure. There is a problem with the printer or ink system. When I insert the cartridge it makes a different sound than normal. If I put the old cartridge back in it seems to be okay except that I get the replace cartridge message. I have tried two different new cartridges and keep getting the same error. I have tried shutting down the printer etc. The only thing that might be different from before is I also get the message,, the cartridge installed are genuine HP cartridge that has been used previously. I have had this printer for years and this is the first time I have had this issue.

Hi @Cowgirl73,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
2. Inspect the Ink Cartridges
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Make sure the cyan ink cartridge is installed correctly.
- Remove the cyan ink cartridge and check for any debris or obstructions in the ink slot.
- Reinsert the cyan ink cartridge firmly until it clicks into place.
3. Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Remove the cyan ink cartridge.
- Using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water, gently wipe the electrical contacts on the ink cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the ink cartridge.
4. Update Printer Firmware
- Ensure the printer firmware is up to date. Visit the HP support website and search for the latest firmware update for your printer model.
5. Use Original HP Ink Cartridges
- Make sure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Counterfeit or refilled cartridges might cause compatibility issues.
- You can verify the authenticity of your cartridges on the HP website.
I hope this helps.
