Hi @JM4747,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are receiving a "B305DFF9 or B805D8A0" error on the printer screen.

The error indicates a firmware issue

Try the below suggestions -

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

To restore the printer to the original factory defaults

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).

2. Touch Printer Maintenance.

3. Touch Restore.

4. Touch Restore Factory Defaults. A message appears stating that the factory defaults will be restored.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Jay_G24,

Thank you for your reply. Every time I do a power cord reset, it works for anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour, then one of these two messages + blue screen returns.

I will attempt your Restore Factory Defaults solution now, and get back to you with feedback, hopefully all positive.

Thanks again.

Hi Jay_G24,

I have not yet reset the factory settings for my printer, but which settings should I save in order to easily begin printing using it again?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

The reset will erase all the settings to defaults and you will have to set the printer up again.

Hope this answers your question.

Let me know!

Printer was not in use for 2 months prior to this blue screen issue.

Unplugging the power cord both from the wall socket and the printer to reset it seemed to make it work for a while. The blue screen error condition would eventually occur again.

The period of time for repetition got longer with each iteration of power cord unplugging. Now it has been a day since last failure.

I did not have to reset to factory defaults so far.

Thank you again for your assistance with this issue.

I had the same issue with the blue screen.  It was incredibly frustrating.  I found that Jay_G24's instructions actually worked.  Be sure to follow the steps in the exact order given.  Thank you.  Wish HP had this solved before selling these printers, though.
