Hi @TahjG
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
That sounds frustrating! A persistent "Rear Door Open" error can be tricky, but let's go through some steps to fix it.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check for Obstructions – Open the rear door and inspect for any small pieces of paper or debris that might be preventing it from closing properly.
- Ensure the Door is Fully Latched – Sometimes, the door doesn’t click into place completely. Try pressing firmly on both sides to ensure it’s fully closed.
- Inspect the Hinges – The rear door has small hinges that can shift out of place. If one looks misaligned, gently adjust it.
- Restart the Printer – Turn off the printer, unplug it for a minute, then turn it back on. This can reset any false error messages.
- Perform a Hard Reset – Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet. Wait 60 seconds, then reconnect everything and turn the printer on.
- Update Firmware – HP sometimes releases firmware updates that fix hardware detection issues.

If the issue persists, the door sensor might be faulty, and you may need to contact HP support for further assistance. Let me know if you need more help! 😊
