Hi,
I just set up a VPN and the printer says it's offline when I'm connected to the VPN, presumably it's because it doesn't recognize the IP.
I saw in another post about this problem with another printer and the solution said to run the scan doctor. I did that (version 5.0.4) and, although it found my printer, as soon as I tried to run the tests it said it failed to communicate. I followed the steps and it seemed to download updates and told me to restart, which I did, but had the same problem.
I am only able to print when I disconnect from the VPN. Is there anything I can do so I don't have to disconnect each time?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Most VPN clients won't allow printing to a LAN connected printers once connected to the VPN.
It's a VPN issue.
I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you for responding.
I have sort of resolved the problem. The VPN software allows specified apps to bypass the VPN and connect to the LAN. The problem is, I can't find the path to the printer software to allow me to specify it. What directory/folder is it in?
What I've had to do is allow all apps to bypass the VPN , with the exception of the web browsers and Outlook (which are the only ones I could find to specify). But I would prefer to be able to just allow the printer to bypass the VPN.
So can someone help me find the printer program? Thanks for any assistance.
