HP ENVY Inspire 7955e All-in-One Printer

Just brought this printer in got a blue screen showing this code dd016c6c

The HP printer code "dd016c6c" typically indicates a "cartridge not recognized" error which means your printer is detecting an issue with the installed ink cartridge, likely due to it being incompatible, damaged, or not properly seated

Did you register the printer with HP and either sign up or decline the instant ink subscription?

see if the unboxing video helps

We were using the ink the came with the printer.

Once that ink was used up I purchased new ink from Office Depot in it printed some stuff in then got this code

No we didn't register the printer with HP

My understanding is that if you run out of ink, or you cancel your subscription, you can use genuine Hewlett Packard cartridges either original or refilled. They must have an HP chip in the cartridge.
The below type is unlikely to work.

Instant ink cartridges can only be used when the ink subscription is active.

I assume the ink that came with the printer was the so-called  Setup Cartridges
Some HP printers can use non-HP ink

To check if an HP ink cartridge is genuine, look for a security label on the cartridge, scan the QR code on the label with your phone, and then go to HP's website hp.com/go/ok to verify the serial number on the label; if the label appears tampered or the serial number doesn't validate, the cartridge is likely not genuine.

We have the same printer in a different office using the Office Depot ink with no problem.

Do  not upgrade the firmware on the other printer.  You can program it so it does not upgrade automatically.
