hp all in one 2600

I have an hp 2600 all in one inkjet printer, it is connected wirelessly to my laptop. It was printing with no problems but was showing it had available updates so I tried to get them but it was taking to long, I stopped the updates but now for the last 2 days when I try to print, I get this hp eprint box telling me my printer is in error state and won't allow me to print. I am a college student and have to have my printer working. I am super frustrated!

@Nmimbs91,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I understand you are having issues related to your HP Printer. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?

Could you provide me with the exact Product number of the Printer and the Operating system installed on the PC?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Alternatively, you can try to follow the steps suggested in the support document for -

If you're using Windows - HP Printers - Printer is Offline (Windows)

If you're using Mac - HP Printers - Printer is Offline (Mac)

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

I am able to print from my tablet but I can't access everything I need to print from it. I am thinking maybe it isn't the printer but that my laptop has got something causing the error and so it can't communicate with the printer.

@Nmimbs91,

I read the super quick reply. Thanks for responding. It is great to hear from you again.  Your patience and efforts are appreciated. Your commendable attitude, good technical skills to deduce that the printer works from the tablet and great temperament is admirable. Kudos to you for these qualities. 🙂

As @Jeet_singh, is out for the day, I am responding on his behalf. It is very clear that it is not the printer but the computer as it works from a different device. Please try the printer offline document from the previous post and the issue should get fixed.

If it continues, then uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers at the root level by following these steps if the OS is Windows:

  • Please perform a hard reset on the printer from this link:https://hp.care/2HFkrRv    by following instructions from the section “Step 1: Reset the printer
  • Then run HP print and scan doctor from this link: https://hp.care/2t64Xtz and check if the issue gets fixed

If it continues, then try these steps:

Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers at the root level by following these step by step instructions:

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, in control panel and select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
  • Click on print server properties.
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  • Restart the PC again.

Then download the latest full feature driver from https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-deskjet-2600-all-in-one-printer-series/12319824 and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

This should fix the issue.

  • If the issue continues then please download the Windows Built-in drivers by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2o3acvH
  • There is an associated YouTube video on how to install the built-in drivers.

Then if the issue persists, assign a manual IP address by following instructions from this YouTube Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCnYyq80V9g

This should do the trick for you.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

 Cheers!
