I am trying to print a document, but the HP Smart app is reporting that my printer is "asleep". Is there any way to wake it up or bring it out of sleep mode without turning it off or unplugging it?

Hi @William1652

Welcome to HP Support Community. This is a great place to post questions and find answers.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing sleep mode issues with your HP Printer.

Please download and install the firmware update on the computer connected to the printer from this web link.

You may also refer to this document to know how to update the firmware.

Let me know if this works.
Take care and have a good day ahead.

This did not help.

My issue is: My printer is asleep. Is there a way I can bring/"wake" my printer out of sleep mode without turning it off or unplugging it?

The firmware update you suggested does not address this issue, or at least it cannot address it for me, because it cannot find/"see" my printer (and therefore cannot install itself on my printer). I assume this is because the printer is asleep, which is my original issue.

I also cannot install the firmware update directly from the printer, because the printer is asleep, and therefore the touch screen is unresponsive.

EDIT TO ADD: I also cannot install the firmware update from the HP Smart app. When I try to access my printer settings from within HP Smart, all I get is a blank screen, presumably cause by the printer being asleep.
