@Shaggybritches, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

When the HP Deskjet 2700e All-in-One printer displays a flashing E,!, and colored ink sign next to the ink triangle icon, this typically indicates a problem with the ink cartridges, the printer’s ink system, or a possible jam.

Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer's paper tray and the rear access door (if applicable).
  • Carefully check for any paper stuck inside the printer or any other debris that could be causing a blockage.
  • If you find any jammed paper, gently pull it out. Ensure there are no small pieces left behind.

Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Open the printer’s front cover to access the ink cartridges.
  • Remove the ink cartridges carefully, one at a time, and check for any protective plastic strips or tape that may still be attached.
  • Inspect the ink cartridges for any leaks or damage.
  • Reinstall the cartridges, ensuring they are firmly seated in place.

Verify Ink Levels

  • Check the ink levels on your printer's display panel (or through the HP Smart app or software on your computer).
  • If one or more cartridges are empty or low, replace the ink cartridges with new ones.

Reset the Printer

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. This can often reset the printer and clear minor error codes.

Check for Software or Driver Issues

  • Ensure that your printer's software is up to date by visiting the HP website and downloading the latest driver or firmware updates.
  • If you are using the HP Smart app, check for updates within the app.

Clear the Printer Queue

  • If there are any stuck print jobs in the printer queue, they could cause an issue.
  • On your computer, go to Devices and Printers, right-click on the HP Deskjet printer, and select See what's printing.
  • Cancel any pending print jobs and try printing again.

Reinstall Ink Cartridges

  • If the problem persists, remove the cartridges again and clean the electrical contacts with a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water.
  • Reinstall the cartridges and check if the error clears.

Perform a Printer Self-Test

  • Many HP printers allow you to perform a self-test or diagnostic page. Check your printer’s manual or settings menu for instructions on how to print a diagnostic page.

You can also refer to this guide to check the blinking lights and error codes.
