All of the sudden, when I send documents to print, they don't print even though the printer is ready and shows online.  I have shut down the printer and the computer and restarted twice.  Sometimes the document will show as "printing" in the queue and then shows as "deleted"  I have run troubleshooters in HP Smart and in Windows and they don't find any problem.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Lindybin,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP printer shows online and ready, but documents are deleted from the queue without printing, even after restarting and running troubleshooters. Here’s a focused fix plan:

1. Clear the Print Queue and Restart Spooler

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, press Enter.
  • Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click → Stop.
  • Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files.
  • Go back to services.msc, right-click Print Spooler → Start.

2. Reinstall the Printer Completely

3. Check Printer Properties

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your printer → Printer Properties → Advanced tab.
  • Make sure “Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster” is selected.
  • Also, check that “Start printing immediately” is selected.

4. Disable Bidirectional Support

  • In the same Printer Properties window → Ports tab.
  • Uncheck “Enable bidirectional support”.
  • Apply and restart the printer.

5. Try Printing from HP Smart

  • Open HP Smart → Add your printer.
  • Try printing a test document or PDF directly from the app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
