I have removed the printer from the Chromebook multiple times.  From what I understand there are no drivers to update when using a Chromebook.  It is hard wired using a USB cable.  I did test printing from this printer using an old Windows computer with USB connection and it prints fine!

I dont see that any of the 3 posted methods for updating  the firmware of the printer is valid for USB connection with a Chromebook, am I mistaken?

I suggest you perform a Power Wash on your Chromebook and then try connecting the printer again

This suggestion worked... as a last resort.  Thankfully it was pretty easy to make sure all was saved to Google drive, perform the power wash, and test the print.  I still don't know what caused the issue so I don't know how to prevent it from happening again.
