Hi @Sio6,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP printer is stuck on "Validating" after changing the ink, it can be frustrating. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to try and resolve the issue:

Ensure Proper Ink Cartridge Installation:

  • Double-check that the ink cartridges are installed correctly. Remove and reinsert them to make sure they are seated properly. Ensure you're using the correct cartridges for your printer model.

Check for Cartridge Protection Tape:

  • Make sure that any protective tape or plastic covering the ink cartridges has been removed. Sometimes leftover tape can interfere with the cartridge installation.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it. Remove the ink cartridges and gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth. Be careful not to damage any components.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a hard reset of your printer. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • If you’re having trouble with links to update the firmware, try accessing the firmware update through the printer's control panel, if available. You can also attempt to update firmware using the HP Smart app if your printer is connected to your computer or mobile device.

Update HP Smart App:

  • Ensure that the HP Smart app is up-to-date. An outdated app might have issues communicating with the printer.

Try a Different Cartridge:

  • If you have a spare ink cartridge, try installing it to see if the problem persists. There could be an issue with the new cartridge.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look for any specific error messages on the printer’s display that might give more information about the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
